Le Mans Legends

Have you seen the enrty for the Le Mans Legends Race on Saturday Morning, by the looks of things it should be a cracker Striling Moss driving a C Type Jag. I will not be at Le Mans this year but I belive the race is Live on Eurosport I for one will be watching.

Ray Bell should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Who else is there?

Shame Mossy's not in a 300SLR so they can finally notch up the Le Mans win they so richly deserved...

I don't think Daimler-Benz AG would dare risk a 300SLR in circuit competition these days, I am afraid. And perhaps the 300SLR's Le Mans record is just a little too dark for the nostalgia movement to contemplate for the moment.

At Goodwood in '99 they got David Coulthard out to do two demonstration laps of the circuit in a W196. He went trickling around at two-tenths, and came in scared stiff.

The Mercedes publicity blurb declared that Mercedes and Coulthard were there, entering into the spirit of the Goodwood revival. In the meantime, Stirling took on a 250F in the driving rain and thrashed it within an inch of its life in one of the best drives I ever saw - in competition mode. Same day, same circuit, different planet.

Le Mans Legends is definitely something I'm looking forward to though. A highlight of the week at La Sarthe for sure.

The entry list is on 'Club Arnarge' site. (Hope Crig does not mind the plug but they do only cover LM.) Go to 2001 Entry, then Legends.
