I'm inclined to agree with Renault110, any other driver than his brother, and Ralf probably would have made the overtaking move on the track.

Still can't criticize him though. Tactically, what he decided was without doubt the right thing to do, and the proof is that he won the race.

botsquad has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
i dont think familial bonding had much to do with it.

tgf is a tough competitor.

i do wonder about the decision not to move over and
try to stay in the bmw's draft.

tgf could have perhpaps made a race of it.

The point is not wheather Ralf couldn't pass, rather he didn't NEED to. Ralf was scrambling all over TGF's gearbox during the 10 laps before the pit stops. He would have known his car was comfortably faster, so only really needed to sit there and outpace Schumi when one or other had to pit. Any looks down the inside would have only been half-hearted attempts to put TGF off if anything. If he saw he COULD get through, I'm sure he would have gone for it, but anything less than 80/20 in his favour he would have just dropped back rather than risk anything.

Indeed I have...and for WDC I would say next year or 2003.
