Strange thing to do, I've never heard of that happening to a new car before!! what were they thinking??
Incidentaly, I'm told that the current digital odometers are easier to wind back than a good old-fashioned mechanical one!! |

Perfect Timing, this allows me to recall a tale from this very weekend....
I went to visit a friend who had just collected a brand new Skoda Fabia vRS (Note to non-Europeans: Imagine a Czech build VW Polo (the model smaller than a Golf) with the 130bhp turbo diesel engine), which is a very impressive motorcar, it was replacing a BMW M-Roadster, and in real world motoring the Skoda is quicker (!!!) Anyway, he was showing off the trip computer functions, when he noticed the odometer reading was 212 miles but the trip counter was showing 247 miles. It transpires that it is common practice (and entirely legal) for dealers to reset the odometer to remove 'delivery mileage' from a car. It's just someone made the schoolboy error of not reseting the trip count at the same time. The ecu logs the number of times the odometer is reset, so you can, with a bit of effort, work out the real total mileage. (What do you Aussies call 'mileage'? Kilometerage?) |

speed and tacho injector pulse width coolant temp and adjust the odometer in case a new instrament cluster was fitte |
