Mclaren and Jaguar settle "Newey affair"
So Newey stays at Mclaren. Jaguar gets an apology from Mac but not what they really wanted.

Which means we would be seeing the same Mclaren design for the next 3 years...
If you ask me...the Mclaren (and Williams, Jag, etc) have cars which hardly differ from year to year... and althoght i have to admit the car looks sleek, its getting boring... Look at Ferrari and Jordan...slightly more adventurous |

In spite of all the nicey nicey talk, it appears Jag gets it's butt kicked off the track, as well as on. It may be just as well. With Newey, fan and journalist's expectations would have been so high Jag would have to start winning the first day Newey put on the green shirt.
Newey, or no, GO JAG! |

So Jag stays the same poor little cat... Merc has more money than Ford does?
I think, Bernie must invent something to make great designers to change teams every 2-3 yeasr just for fun. |

Jag got £4 million from what I've heard...
Newey will be designing the cars up to 2003 and Ron Dennis is going to put him on some obscure "special project" - like Gordon Murray, the other wasted genius that resides in the depths of McLaren. Ron doesn't like Newey much anymore, so he has 2 years to find a new chief designer, and keep Newey "busy" - i.e. paying him a lot of money for nothing - just so another team can't get to him... I think that the McLaren F1 car was a "special" project... |
