Group 2 Regs - 1972
Where would I get a copy of the Group Two Rules/Regulations that were current in UK/Europe in the 1970's?

Was it a particular aspect you needed? There were changes between 72 and 73 - one that comes to mind is rear seats were required in 72 but not 73.

Thanks Anuauto and phdm. I will probably restore my car (67 Camaro) to 1972 spec though there appears to be capacity restrictions differing from country to country!

I think the main reason for the limit was the surprising speed of the Mercedes 300 SEL 6.8 in Spa 1971. The car in 1972 now could only tackle some German national events, the Nurburgring 24h and had a go at Le Mans - without much success. It was sold to Matra aerospace in the end. |

From the video I have of Frank Gardener's ZL1 all alloy big block 2nd Gen Camaro racing at Thruxton in the BTCC ad the speed diiference between his car and the CSL's down the back straight and the total domination of the car, I would have thought this was the vehicle they were more worried about when they set the 5 litre limit.

There's a difference between a BTCC sprint race and the ETCC endurance races - the brakes of the Camaro's as well as driveshafts etc. were the weak point. But for sure the American cars will have played a role too.
