Speed trap detectors
Any of you guys have one of these fancy combined GPS laser & radar detectors, e.g. road angel, origin b2?
What do you reckon to them - any good? Thinking of buying myself one so I can concentrate on the road rather than the hedgerow!!! Last edited by MG ZS 180; 14 Aug 2004 at 13:34. |

Never actually used one. Although Ill be getting road angel soon myself. Worth noting that even if the goverment does pass a law banning the GPS road angel type services they cant stop the Lazer alert system, to my knowledge anyway. Not as good as the new Road angel but still good. By the way u might find www.blackspot.com of help, the official site for Road Angel.

We've got an Origin B2 and it does a great job of keeping you awake!!
For those who don't know, the Origin and Road Angel don't actually detect cameras, instead they use a database of camera locations and use the GPS Sattelites to work where you are and warn you when you are near a camera. It will also warn you of accident blackspots, schools and any other location you program into it. There is also an 'overspeed' warning which you can set to whatever speed you want (ours is set at 80mph) There is also a speed reading which I presume is more accurate than the car speedo. I cant see how they could ban them without making the locations of cameras a top secret matter!! |

I've got a Snopper SR6 Neo and they're great for London but not much cop on the Mway with overhead lasers. All these systems will detect lasers but ONLY when the laser is activated so you've got to hope that someone ahead is being zapped first. A laser diffuser (which are illegal I believe or at least on the legal / illegal grey fence) is the only way to prevent this.

Thanks guys.
I think the road angel is going to be the one I will go for, as you can easily move it from one car to another. |
