It seems that Rocketsports remembered what they did right last year, and Tags has been at the top of the sheets all day. Dominguez, Allmendinger, and Hunter-Reay did well for themselves, and so did Bourdais as usual.

Just a side note, does seeing only one Reynard in the field make anyone else a little sad?

The Reynard organisation went out of business a few years ago - it's only because the series is still using 2002 chassis that there still is even one Reynard around.

It's too bad about Reynard, the best looking chassis imo!

I have always been a Lola fan, even in the days when March, Penske and then Reynard were beating the pants off of them. I really would like to see more Reynards out there now though. I still think Champ Car should allow some changes in the package to even out the chasis. I think Reynard got caught out a bit unfairly in the freeze.

Back on topic...looks to me as if Dominquez is about due for another win.

That's right, now I remember. Didn't Walker purchase the molds etc.? I remember there were rumors of him continuing to research and develop the chasis, and there was even something a while back (probably a year ago or more) that Panoz was interested in the Reynard effort.... I couldn't follow the situation then, and I don't really know what the deal is now. Does anyone know? (Sorry, I know it's kinda off topic)

I would have thought Justin would have qualifed better that 9th having some F1 experience behind him.
Good performance from A.J out qalified his team mate and best of the rookies.

Go A.J.

Hope he betters his postion in next qualifing session

The best looking Reynard had to be the Penske or Renski which ever way you look at it then followed by Greg Moore's 1999 Players car

Thats just my taste anyway

Dominguez was still able to clock the third-fastest time, despite losing his fastest lap from a red flag.

Good to see that Tags is only 1/10th off of Bourdais' pace. In fact, most of the times are pretty close until you get down to P12, where Haberfeld is 4/10ths off Servia. By the time you get to the bottom of the sheet, Mazzacane is 3-secs off the pace.

Carpentier - "Irreparable mechanical problems" that led Neil Micklewright to comment, "Never in my racing career have I seen exactly the same problems befall the same driver at the same track on the same day in two successive years!"

Smith - Shifting problems.

Gonzales - "Mechanical gremlins" - car stalled in warmup and wouldn't restart.

The bright side for these three drivers is that they've got more tires than the rest. But I'm sure that's little consolation.

The weather forecast for Montreal:
Saturday: Sunny. Winds W 20 km/h. High 27.
Sunday: Showers. Risk of afternoon thunderstorms. Winds NE 20 km/h. High 22.

Have we had a wet race this year? Even though I prefer dry races, an occasional wet race can make things interesting.

A wet race could be great, but the wet "races" we've had over the past couple of years make me a little wary. Well, ok, Road America last year was quite good and dramatic, albeit shortened by torential downpour causing a red flag. It's better to have a wet race on a road course like Montreal, instead of, say Surfer's Paradise.... Hopefully they go with it.
