Where to stay : Donnington Park
Howdy.
Can anybody suggest anywhere to stay within walking didtance of Donnington Park. I'm dropping over for the BTCC. I can get a taxi from eastmidlands airport cheeply enough (I assume, if I'm wrong please set me straight) but I have no car so accomodation close to the track would be good. Anybody with local knowladge or if you stayed somwhere please let me know. Thanks |

At Donington (which is within easy taxi range of East Midlands airport) only the hotel at the old paddock entrance is really within easy walking distance. Not cheap but said to be good. Very likely to be fully booked for big meetings.
Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel, Tel: 0 1332 862409 or http://www.milford.co.uk/england/accom/h-l-3302.html Next I would try the Three Horseshoes in Breedon on the Hill village. Fair walk (about 2.5 miles) but a taxi should not be too bad. Pub with some simple b&b rooms. Decent food but gets busy at times. Tel: 01332 862738 Lots of others (but not, I think, closer, just Google Donington (note just three 'n's) and accommodation. Regards Jim |

Thanks for the info Jim.
I've found a website that has a list of hotels near the track and gives their didstance away. Only one problem, I dont believe the distances the are giving from the track. http://www.uk-hotel-accommodation.co...Race_Track.cfm |

I thought that we had this thread a while ago, possibly on the racers thread. No matter.
The Holiday Inn express and the Thistle are both walking distance (1 mile) from DP main entrance, at the airport. Also try the following in Castle Donington village: Castletown House - John/ Pat Lilley 01332 812018 The Tudor Hotel - 0115 924 9241 Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel - 01332 862409 (next door to the Paddock! Church View Hotel - 01332 853440 Or, Melbourne View Hotel in Melbourne - 01332 865353 (run by a Sports 2000 racer, I think!) All are waliking distance, about 1 to 1 1/2 miles. I can recommend either of the Indian Restaurants or the Italian in Castle Donington, too!! Have fun |

Forgot to mention that I'll be staying on sunday night after the race too.
So if anyone knows any good places to go after the race speak up, I cant see myself staying in my hotel room all evening! |

Paid a visit to Castle Donington saturday night...
Stopped of at The Turks Head for a quick pint.... If you have never been to that pub you need to go... There is a Stewart F1 car in the bar and the whole place is a shrine to motorsport with memorabilia everywhere.....Nice pint as well..... |
