Drivers On Forums

In lieu of a recent incident due to a supposed James Thompson being on the Forum!! I think its time we had some kind of clarification on the members profile or something if they are drivers of a professional means!! eg f3,btcc etc etc

Eg maybe a little logo next to where it says whether you are a rookie, racer, veteren etc etc

And i think that if a driver wants to start up a user name then they must be scruitinised by the webmaster to ensure no offence is taken or embaressment caused.

I remember quizzing a certain John B&Q as to whether he was genuine or not!!

Well what do u think

I agree that it would be a good idea - AntHill and I were certainly taken in by the imposter the other night.

Then again, all that scrutineering may make the driver decide not to bother - after all, they don't have to come and register on the site.

???

we could adverstise it along the lines of only genuine driver site!!!

the drivers could still sign up regardless but to get official confirmation and clarification they would need to possibly sort something out with Young ANTHILL blokey!!

I can't believe this is a problem. Don't these people have better things to do?

On the upside, AMoffat and AlanJones need to be looked at very closely

Maybe a little 'BTCC Driver' or whatever else should be placed where my 'Veteran' symbol is as you said SPOONERBORO. After a period of about 1 month probably.

Having seen the mess that one joker made last week, I'm actually warming to this idea just a bit. At a rough count this evening, we have nearly forty members who compete on a regular basis, either at international, national or club level. All are in one way or another acting as ambassadors for the sport. Might be an idea to honour them?

And at the same time weed out the wind-up merchants who are out to cause trouble.

If this was enacted, might I suggest the title "Competitor"?

I second that wonderful suggestion by Tim. 'Competitor' would be so fitting

Competitors the best yet. Universal coverage I suppose.

If they want, you could put up a notice about it, but if anyone of any name was posting at this forum, it would not surprise me at all if they would want to maintain their anonimity. I mean if a famous race driver were to be posting here, would they jump up and down saying "Look at me! I'm an F1 driver." Unlikely.

However, if they do wish some recognition, rather than giving them a title such as "Competitor", why don't we simply have another page where we acknowledge their accomplishments. For example, have a list of the competitors, the series they compete in, and their accomplishments.

Shouldn't that sentence end with "to be honest"?

Oh, by the way, I'm Ralf. Moff, you don't fool me, I know you're a closet supporter of me.

And I am DC. All of you get off my race track this minute! Or I'll get my Uncle Ron and his brother to come and holler at you!

I agree with Jay - if there really are pilots on this board, they are probably too smart to register under their real names. (Well, Jason Plato has registered under his name, hasn't he?)

And Robbie Buhl, too. However, I do understand pilots keeping their anonymity if anyone else famous is/are posting here. It will be much easier for them to participate in the discussions that way, I think it would put a big strain on the discussion if, say, the real Michael Schumacher came here and started posting under his real name. I think the entire forum would be coloured by such an event, and people could become apprehensive about it.
