Log book question
Hi all,
Just preping my car for road going class next season, do I need to get the car looked at before the first event to issue it with a log book? Cheers Mark |

Is this for hillclimbs/sprints? Until someone more knowable comes along - I don't believe you need a logbook with a road-going car (well, I've never had one).

it all depends on what your doing, race cars dont have log books, rally and rally cross cars need them and so do hill climb and sprint cars UNLESS the are taxed and are competeing in road legal comdition.
you will need a scruitineer to log book a car, but they wont all do it and most only do one or two types of car, quite often a scruit who does rally cars wont do a sprint car, i suggest you look a up a scruit in a blue book thats local to you and give him a bell, if he wont do your car he's bound to know someone that will. |

Some speed championships require all cars have log books regardless of their roadgoing status. AFAIK the Midland Speed doesn't have this requirement. The HSA championship used to require this, now it is just 'advisable'.
I think you'll be OK. The simplest way to get a log book is to ask a scrutineer to do it at an event after they've completed their general scrutineering duties. Paul |

You dont need a log book. The only problem that might arise is if you run at any venues where the classes are different. I am aware of scrutineers trying to tell people road legal cars need log books if running in modprod class because there is no roadgoing class in the event concerned. They dont.

you can run a road legal car in modprod class with out a log book as long as its taxed and remains road legal, so you cant bolt slicks on it, the Blue book is that exempts you from needing the log book it has nothing to with the class structure.
