Jeff Gordon and Montoya onboard video around indianapolis
Taken from another forum. How cool is this?
When Jeff Gordon and Juan Montoya swapped cars at Indianapolis, Jeff drove the Williams F1 car and Montoya drove his NASCAR, great on board coverege. Gordon lap Montoya lap Last edited by luke; 15 Dec 2004 at 18:01. |

Sure did, I was impressed with both, they seemed to both be on the pace, especially Jeff's ride in the f1 car, and didn't it sound great?
Or is it just the simptoms of the off season? |

i'm always amazed when i hear an f1 car during the off season, you can forget just how amazing they sound when you don't hear them on the telly every other week. that nascar didn't look too slow either, except the amount of dive it had under braking, and it sounded pretty sweet as well, just in a more rumbly way.

Thanks for posting that Luke. In a way I was dissapointed. I was hoping we'd see JPM going manhandling that 3500lbs boat in a way that would be quiet counterproductive.

No problem guys, my pleasure, a shame there wasn't a few more seconds on that clip, a full to two laps would have been good, but anyway, is it me or did it look as though Montoya was lifting a wheel on the exit of turn 2?

He was flat out after the infeild section, then braked a tad to late for turn 1, then locked up, he must have been doing 200mph+, did you see his head when he braked!

I'd imagine the fitness level required for NASCAR is much lower than F1. |

Yeah i could imagine. Different fitness levels in different areas for both series. Actually Gordon was approached by Jackie Stewart to race F3000 years back in Jeff’s sprint car days, so his talent was very obvious early on, can’t quite remember the exact details though. I'm a huge fan of both series and they keep me up at odd hours here in Aus but its all part of it.

Found it:
..."Jeff Gordon has an immense amount of talent," Stewart said. "If he had gone over and done the European series, he would be even bigger than he is now. When he drove Montoya's car here in June, he adapted very well and he seemed to really be enjoying it over a matter of time." ... Last edited by Adam43; 16 Dec 2004 at 09:03. Reason: Copyright. What a shame that a driver as capable, as is Jeff Gordon, is married to his series. After seeing the Mario Andretti bio today, I knew that that he was in a special era that will never be repeated. We will never see an F1,Nascar, or American open wheel racer compete and win like he did.
The most likely senario is a F1 racer comes to America, but would he succeed to that level? Oh, and 32 old? bury me know, I`m stinking up the place. |

Gordon looped it a few times. I think it was a turn 1 every time.

I guess the brakes are probably the biggest difference. The best brakes and light car.
