The colours are always encouraged by what the sponsors want. No point just picking on the small guys. Often in fact, smaller teams like have been able to run with their own scheme since they don't actually have any major sponsors - i.e. Minardi wants to be black. They keep getting Red and Green bits from their sponsors
Ferrari will be Marlborough Red as usual McLaren Mercedes & West silver Williams BMW blue & white again. Also 'new' sponsor, Royal Bank of Scotlands house colours as well. Renault, still with Mild Seven on board will have a lot of baby blue. And a lot of Renault yellow. It is a shame, they still don't quite go together. BAR will be it's 'brand' colour...maybe they'll go with the 555 car this year. Means they can sell all new merchandise after all! Red Bull no doubting Blue & Silver Has Jordan lost B&H yet? Maybe we can finally say goodbye to unlucky yellow (Forti, Coloni et al) Sauber's will turn much more turqouise, based on the Credit Suisse & Petronas markings. Sauber's 'house' colour is black, but this doesn't go too well with their sponsors. Minardi will be black, white & red - back to something like the 2003 scheme with Trust markings no doubt. Toyota white and red - (be nice if the Castrol green could join in, and it could pick up the look of the old Rally cars though!) Is that all! I keep thinking I've forgotten someone. |

At the end of the day, current liveries are merely functions of sponsorship. It is purely about what will give their sponsors the best background. |

Sauber's was alright until the yellow bargeboard came on...
I'd suppose there's not much need for blue this year now that Red Bull is gone... |

Sauber could have a livery much like Proton Impian BTCC car. It could be easy to spot.

I think Minardi would look fine in a nice pink/metallic blue colorscheme IMO.
It's ridiculous, just like the performance of their cars! |

it's a shame they didn't use that livery, it looks a proper design intergrated with the car, instead of a mess of sponsors logos thrown wherever they'll fit. i especially like the bubbles.

Is that a genuine paintjob, or a computer mock up?

Photoshop paintjob on a real car.
And a damn good one too. Practically indistinguishable(sp?) from the real thing... What makes me think that it's a photoshop job are the rims, and the sideshot of the nose. Extremely well done nevertheless... Last edited by ASCII Man; 7 Jan 2005 at 21:52. |

I like that Minardi paint scheme... only wish they had held onto Wilux for the full season to utilise it

That minardi design looked very swish but overall many of the cars have had the same colour schemes for far too long. Hopefully some will change in the coming years with the end of tobacco sponsorship. My current favourite is Renault because it looks fresh. My all time favourite is the 1992 Lotus. It was a masterpiece in British Racing Green and Yellow and no bothersome sponsorship deals to clutter it up. May they rest in peace.
