Indy, imho, #4 is the correct answer.

What OWRS needs to do is kidnap NASCARs marketing guy. Im telling you I have written commercials for Champ Car and their sponsers, if anybody wants to see them send me a private message.

Interesting, Ted. Shunck and McGovern have now been installed in the PR department and Lopes has left to join Andretti-Green. Other than the aforementioned two PR guys, haven't heard of any other replacements.

From a source I heard that all were let go and some were hired back under consulting contracts. They would work while the season is running but their services would not be required when the season is over. No name were mentioned and nothing publically has been said.

Interesting and could be, Molson Boy......I don't know why they'd take the PR heat over it if that's what they're doing, though, both pro and con. For example, if they hire Kneifel back, then it goes through another round of discussions about the officiating pro and con.

It was an interesting commentary until I read PG and "eminently qualified" in the same sentence. If Kneifel was a "clown act" as Chief Steward one can only imagine what PG could do as Director of Race Operations.
I am sure he would work out some sort of rule where he was the official (and only vendor) of bodywork such as he was in TA. |

I never met Gabers... Dykstra was a VERY competent individual, but he may have stepped on somebody's toes... Higgins, however, was (IMO) an idiot who never knew how to be an official, or what to do in race control. His departure -- no matter how it was done -- is no loss to Champ Car...

INDIANAPOLIS (January 24, 2005) – The Champ Car World Series today tabbed veteran team manager Tony Cotman to lead the Champ Car Operations Department. Cotman takes over as Vice President of Operations after serving most recently as Team Manager at Andretti Green Racing. In the past two years, Cotman was instrumental in leading the team to 10 race wins and the 2004 Indy Racing League Championship. “I’m very excited to join the Champ Car staff,” said Cotman, a native of New Zealand. “I’m looking forward to being part of the team at Champ Car that continues to build the series into a success. I truly believe that the Champ Car World Series is some of the best racing not only in America but worldwide.” Cotman will oversee the Operations Department which includes Trans-Am Executive Director John Clagett, Toyota Atlantic Managing Director Vicki O’Connor, Operations Director John Anderson, Logistics Director Billy Kamphausen, Safety Director Lon Bromley and Medical Director Dr. Chris Pinderski. “I firmly believe that Tony is well equipped to provide Champ Car with the experience, energy and knowledge necessary to achieve the goals of our Operations Department,” said Champ Car President Dick Eidswick. “I am very excited knowing that Tony will be part of our team as we continue to build Champ Car.” |
