mmciau should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Australia - Road Fines linked to Income

There is a proposal in an Australian State to link level of speeding fines/Road Traffic Infringements with your level of income.

I thought Taxable Income was a matter between the Tax Commissioner and myself.

I'd almost suggest breach of discrimination laws too

DKGandBH has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I'd be happy with this, except in the case of "Mr NoJob" whose income is 0 (or negative) and therefore having to pay no fine...

I think it should be "means tested" instead of "income related" as there are a *lot* of wealthy people who *earn* squat !

Before we had fixed penalties in the UK that's how they did it here. On a couple of occasions I have managed to get low fines and 6 to 12 months to pay them by pleading poverty.

Let me guess, must be a Bob Carr related proposal. I am sure half of Mount Druitt will be very happy with the idea!

They do this kind of thing in Finland, some millionaire guy in Helsinki was speeding on his Harley and got a fine in the region of 10 grand if I remember rightly!
