Could Kenny Roberts have won?
He was holding his own against Rossi before he retired, but do you think he would have been able to beat Rossi and win the race, or do you think Rossi was holding back and would have got him later on?

We don't know for sure whether Vale took the place before Kenny's bike developed a problem. If not, who knows? He was certainly fast, but he might have been wearing the tyres out, and Vale often holds back in the early stages, especially in the wet.

Well, the 'Zook is a better bike than the Kawa, and Jacque was closing in on Rossi. So I belive he *Could've* won.

That chart shows the great start of Jurgen VDG, from 19th to 12th in the first lap, and then steadily towards 5th and eventually ending up in 6th place.

If the race had been three laps longer, Jacque could have won.
Whether Kenny would have held on or not belongs in the 'What if?' column. But it would have been good to see. |
