F1 WGP on Playstation

Well, what do you peeps think? Is it any good? I like all the options etc..., but the graphics are dire, the frame rate is shocking (ironically it speeds up in 2 player mode), and the handling is a bit off. Also, you damage too easily - but I guess it's because it's more realistic.

Hey man, you really are obsessed with frame rate. And I don't really think what you mentioned was ironic - just c**p. Why do insist on buying every F1 game that comes out? Have you no mind of your own???? Do you see?

Actually, the game is decent enough, I'm pleased to say. The graphics may be a bit shoddy, but the replays look marvellous (as far as the PS goes - the cars look far better than on F1'99).

Also, the handling is actually very nice - you simply have to learn it, as with the analogue stick on the DC (which isn't half bad, I'll be the first to now admit

).

If it came down to F1 WGP and F1'99, I'd say it was a close call, but actually, I think F1 WGP offers a better simulation of the world of F1.

Try it - U might like it.

Nonononononono - it's on the Playstation, you even agree with me that it is dead and gone. There is nothing new to offer. The Empire is getting ready for its second Mass Mainstream Casual Gamer blitz - targeting the "young" and female. Actually, I have to say I am fed up with casual gamers. I trundled along to EB today to pick up a nice new copy of the rather spanky Worms Armageddon for my PS, and the queue of mothers, fathers and ten year old sons stretched to the back of the shop.

GOD DAMN THE CASUAL GAMER!!!!!

So anyway, I popped along to MVC and picked up a copy for £19.99 in the sale. Bargain!!!

F-1 WGP just released over here in the States, and after having F-1 99 for about two weeks and then running F-1 WGP I can honestly say I think F-1 WGP sucks... and bad.
Graphically its not up to par with Psygnosis' new creation but I can overlook that. The control of the cars themselves is terrible.

If you must play F-1 WGP rent it first.

Pablo, were you playing the game using an exterior view? If so, DON'T. It is impossible to drive if you do. However, go to the first cockpit view and voila!

Give it a chance - I almost took it back to the shop straight away because I couldn't handle the car. However, for some reason I persevered I now I can honestly saw I prefer the handling to F1'99's over-arcadiness.
Plus the racing is far better! Give it a try - I nearly didn't, but I'm glad I did.

Let me elaborate....

The acceleration works differently to F1 '99 (which, to be honest, isn't all that great in general anyway is it? If you want a benchmark F1 game, use F1'97). Don't press brake whilst pressing accelerate - take your finger off accelerate, then brake, or just roll round the corner - like in real life.

The people at Eidos/Video Systems etc... aren't stoopid you know - thay have created a very realistic and enjoyable F1 sim.
