Wow, you've got 34 cars ignoring the TD may run 6 cars rumour!

If Gow got that he'd be creaming himself!

I'd expect a bigger field than this year as some teams may pull out some budget to at least attack the smaller efforts of this year, but you probably already know...that list aint gonna happen!

I'd reckon you could see 4 Seat's though with the amount of excess Seat's floating around. Some would end up at indies in the WTCC of course (GR Asia again/Oreca to stay?).

Given up on GA & Griffin to be honest.

Is it that time of the year already?

You forgot the 4 JSM Alfas and pair of TTR MGs.

It's one thing expressing an interest and actually even being halfway to having a deal to race a season. With all due respect, I think we'd better wait a while yet. I'd usually say the New Year is a good indicator of entries but the trend these days for confirmations is Press Day's or the week before the 1st Race.

And I wouldn't be so sure about SEAT, they've complained the majority of the season about weight issues, they might take their toys elsewhere to play.

I thought this was supposed to serious list so I discounted McRae and Button.

Regarding that, did anybody notice MG are about to win the German S2000 championship (The DMSB/DPM/DTC thing)? Nice work for a car manufacturer that's been bust for half a year.

Most of that complaining has been done by Plato though. in this interveiw Seat UK's marketing head said "Seat UK has not yet decided whether we will continue with a BTCC programme for 2006 or whether we will put our budget into supporting Seat’s World Touring Car Championship efforts, it all depends on what television coverage the British series secures for next year." Latest suggestions are that ITV's coverage will be of the same level as 2005.

OTOH, does a one round appearance count as a BTCC entry? The NATCC back in the golden age would have had like 20 cars if they all showed up at a single race.

Some of these ideas are fanciful at best, TCR and Griffin especially, and the chances are that someone else other than 'new manufacturer' will emerge. BTCC teams live a very hand-to-mouth existance, and drivers and budgets are only usually settled in the months before the season opener.

We can only hope that as another year has passed, more S2000 cars would be available on the used market for a team to be able to purchase.

Kia?

Kia is on the way to BTCC according to Motorsport News. The manufacturer is reported to be on the way of forming a two car team for the british championship.
See full article: www.touringcartimes.com

I had expected they would enter the Kia Magentis instead of Cerato or Rio, but I have to admit manufacturers are more focussing on smaller cars.

Both as far as I'm aware. Would be interesting to see if Muller / Kia's links in ice racing would end up with the pair together in the BTCC.

That did cross my mind as well, but from what in said yesterday's Motorsport News, they are only looking at joining the championship and they are a long way from commiting to it.

I hope some of those WTCC Alfa's make their way over here as well as those Accords. Won't those MG's be a bit dated by next year? Unless they update them I can't see them racing them!

You would hope for WSR's sake they get a factory deal here or on the world stage. They're too good to be simply running a private car.

So could Kia be the long rumored "interested Korean manufacturer" rumor dating back to the mid 90s BTCC???

I hope there is as many cars / teams entering as people are guessing, because the racings been great the last few years , still good this year but the grid numbers have been embarrasing at times.

More teams or cars may also bring in faces that have disappeared, Huff, Reid, O'neill etc etc
