Hi...
superficialy at least it looks ok. Due to the colour scheme it looks a little like last years Williams (yes I know...,BMW...LOL). That's ok too, as the Williams in test colours resembles a Minardi.

The front end does look McLarenish as previously mentioned.

So far there seems little in the way of revolutionary ideas or looks. All again look much of a muchness.
All look competent enough if a little drearily samey.

Still it'll be an interesting season with the new motors etc.

Cheers
Peter

Louis B. should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It's quite difficult if not impossible to make valid comparisons between the 2005 and 2006 cars given the drastic change from V10 to V8 engines amongst other changes in the regulations. Be worth as it may though, I noted that, almost a year ago on January 21st, 2005, Massa was setting Sauber's fastest lap at the Valencia track with a lap in 1'11.217". I find it interesting to note that, after only one and a hald day testing the new Sauber-BMW, NH's best lap today was in 1'12.440".

It appears clear to me that the shift from a V10 to a V8 engine must be costing much more than the 1.2" difference between the above two times. In other words, the new chassis already seems to be better than the 2005 if we discount the engine change factor. This is promiseful eventhough, obviously, we have yet to know by how much the other teams will also have improved their new chassis in comparison with last year.

It will be, finally, JV's turn tomorrow to test the new car.

P.S. For the record, this my 1000th post

So, Heidfeld in the new car is a second behind Massa's time from last year in the old car, while JV in the old car is a second behind Heidfeld in the new car?

JV is running with the worst combination: i.e. last year's hybrid car with a V8. Anyhow, let's resume this interesting discussion after tomorrow's sea trials with JV at the helm of BMW's latest beauty (that is on Sunday as I will be out of town until then).

Lets not jump the gun gentlemen. This will be basically a shakedown week. Times mean even less than usual, but having said that, it is somewhat reassuring to hear Nick's initial assessment, quick and smooth, I believe were his words.

JV took his turn in the new car today. Ran 76 laps with a best lap of 1:12.472.

NH was faster in the old car with a best lap of 1:12.293.

Times in the new car remain equal, both did 1:12.4 I think. Anyway, it's no good winning the Winter GP unless you do well at Bahrain and the next 18 races...

The reliability at this early stage is also encouraging. I think this team may well surprise if the car is as mechanically sound as it was in '05.

I agree Kirk. I'd love to see it and i'd be bouncing off the wall if they bag a win this year . I know very unlikely but we can hope.

BMW knows what they're doing when it comes to racing.

Remember the debut of the M3 GTR in ALMS?

I am glad to see that JV matched NH's best time in the new car at his very first day testing it. Matching is not enough though, he must consistently do better.

I am also a bit concerned by the fact that, overall, the fastest time for the three days testing session was set with the interim car (by NH).

Let's see...

*14 hours later* Out of my first 1000 posts, 326 were about or mentionned JV; 274 were insidiously about JV and 399 were unrelated to JV for a total of... 999. Gush! let me read them again...

P.S. The fact that you associates my name with JV either means that you like me or that you are a latent JV fan. There is hope with you Joe. I will keep on working on your case in the upcoming months such that you finally see the light...

Pfft! Rosberg's best time is still slower than JV's and NH's best times set in December at the same track.
