Allan Craighead should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Germany in June

Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone knows of any open-wheel races in Germany in June. I'll be over for the World Cup and would love to catch a race if possible, but looks like all the major series not racing June. Any help be appreciated.

Cheers,

Al Craighead

There was supposed to be DTM + F3 at Spa the first weekend of June, but I believe thats been canceled or moved because of the WC.

going to leave this here for the evening and then shift it into trackside where it's supposed to be

dtm certainly has, as russfeld says, shifted all their dates away from june so as to avoid the world cup. the other alternative might be german f3, but i'm not sure of the dates.

Lucky you have F3 in your country!!!
See F3 TV coverage in Argentina is so rare... SouthAm F3 is in fact a Brazilian F3... and the German F3 chassises surely are more updated (the most modern one in SouthAm F3 is the Dallara F301).

The last calendar I saw for the German Recaro F3 Cup was this:

23 April - Oschersleben
30 April - Hockenheim
14 May - Lausitzring
28 May - Nurburgring
17 June - Nurburgring
16 July - Assen
30 July - Lausitzring (oval)
17 September - Salzburgring
1 October - Oschersleben
8 October - Lausitzring

This was from italiaracing.net I believe, so I'm not sure if those dates are finalised. But if so Nurburgring could be a possibility, supporting the Nurburgring 24 Hours.

Or a little earlier in the month: 2nd-4th June - FIA WTCC (with Formula BMW ADAC supporting) at Oschersleben.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the German F3 calendar. Been looking for that. Nurburgring would be perfect if the dates are correct. Let's hope so.

BTW, any of you guys going to WC?

Cheers,

Do the 'ring, not only would you get F3 but the 24 hour touring & gt race (they use the full green hell layout for it, wonder if the F3 race would be doing the same?).

Pretty sure it won't! Though it would be awesome. Some of the tin-top supports for the 24 Hours race on the Nordschleife though, don't they?

Dont know if you will be around by the 2nd of July but if you are I beleive there is Formula Renault 2.0ltr supporting the FIA GT championship at Oschersleben.

Being as I've never been before, how hard is it to get to the track? I'd rather not rent a car, as I will have no need for one the rest of my trip and plan on getting around via the train. I believe Koblenz is the closest big city can take the train to. In addition, I've been told camping out at the track is a fun experience. Any you guys done that?

Cheers,

If you stay in the neighborhood of Koblenz you are also close to the tracks of Spa and Zolder in Belgium. Somewhere in June there is a race of an Italian F3000 championship at Spa. Precise date? Don't know with all the DTM troubles about the race in Spa.

Nurburgring isn't easy to get to by public transport I'm afraid.
From Koblenz, you need to get a train to Ahrbrück, then a bus to Adenau, and then a taxi the rest of the way.

The combined bus and train ticket is not very expensive - I travelled the same route but started from Dusseldorf and that was only about 19Euro (I was staying near the circuit for a week - you certainly couldn't commute from Dusseldorf. In fact I wouldn't advise it from Kobelnz either as it is still 90 minutes to Adenau, then another 15 to the track)

I stayed at the Hotel Rieder at Wiesemscheid.

It is often used by race team personnel, so if you are lucky you will be able to get a lift to/from the circuit. Otherwise a taxi won't cost much.

Camping is something which you should only do at the 'Ring in August, because the rest of the year is prone to snow.

Thanks the info Sceptic. I will look into trains to Ahrbrück. Hopefully won't be too much of a problem and can find my way to the track from there. As for camping in the snow, no worries I'm Canadian plus only planning on camping one night for the atmosphere.

Cheers,

Al Craighead

And in May last year!

Seriously, if you don't abhor GT/tourers completely you should go up there for the 24 Hours. It has all the atmosphere you want.

Use www.bahn.de to look up train times, and book tickets - there are English and French launguage options as well as German, and it covers train journeys across mainland Europe.

Allan, depending on the company's race schedule in Germany, I can even take you to the Ring. It's only 35 miles away.
We may even have a race there ourselfs, depending when you are going.

The train from Cologne to Koblenz stops only half a mile from the office. But it all depends how our schedule falls into place.

You may always PM me.
