KK announces "Many more than 25 new sponsors" in his Valentines speech
Did anyone hear the same as I from KK regarding "Many more than 25 new sponsors"? How come this announcement did not create as much a buzz?

That can mean lot's of things. Sure, we'd like to believe that he was talking about a plethora of title sponsorships to cover those bare sidepods. But the sad reality is that Champ Car probably has a new official toilet cleaner product for the series.

Hey its better than having no toilet cleaning sponsorship, isnt it. It all helps.

I didn't hear it and can't find it anywhere,or being discussed anywhere else, but I guess I agree with StickShift.

You can judge the healthiness of a series by the cleanliness of its toilets. Probably.
It's good news to have more sponsors involved, but I suspect most are indeed minor deals from companies who will not be known to the average consumer. While a team like Forsythe has no major sponsors, we can't really consider the series to be anywhere near its peak. |

Very true, Boots. But it took the series 25 years to reach the "peak" the first time - then it slipped and fell to the bottom. Having learned how to do it, they're climbing their way back up quite quickly.
Not aimed at anybody in particular, but we hear so much "I want the best drivers! I want the best sponsors! I want the best circuits! I want the best schedule! I want! I want!" Not long ago, there was no ChampCar. I don't think KK entered into this with a one-year-plan. They're acquired Cosworth. Long Beach. Toronto. Signed promotors. And title sponsors for events. Elkart Lake is back. Cleveland is secure (these are 2 venues another series may have been interested in). They've re-signed with Ford and Bridgestone. The Mazda brand signs with Atlantic. They've announced a new and exciting formula for next year, after having just introduced the same for Atlantics this year. And a less-expensive formula, I might add. All this is not even to mention the myriad of smaller sponsors they've brought onboard. Like the Official Toilet Cleaner. A bunch of pennies quickly adds up to a dollar. And I'm pretty confident that there are a bunch of potential sponsors, holding nickels dimes and quarters, that are just waiting to see what 2007 brings. In my opinion, things are looking good. VERY good. |

Indycool, KK briefly talks about it but he does mention it in the video. I agree with Macdaddy. I prefer pennies to nothing and things seem to be added recently rather than being taken off. Both series are on the up and up.

But anyways I managed to track down the link here http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...portsspons.ap/ "Chip maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. partnered with NASCAR last year, and Intel Corp. is reportedly negotiating a high-level partnership in the Champ Car Series, according to IEG. "There's a real battle under way between Intel and AMD," Chipps said. "Both companies are stepping up their sponsorships and using them as a platform to demonstrate their technology." |

Coyote,. hope it's true but I haven't seen 25 new announcements and DHL is gone with Glock to F2. Mark C. reports Intel's money is going to BMW's F1 program and Pacificare is gone from N-H (for whatever "reports" that source might be worth).

Indycool you should reread what I wrote in my first post which was: KK said "Many more than 25 new sponsors"?
He made that annoucnement without saying which companies. I never said he named them but he did say that there would be that many in his Valentine's speach. I agree with you about DHL and most of Intel's money to be going to the F1 circuit (they will remain linked to Champ Car at least to the leval they are right now - it's a small investment I agree). As for Pacificare I was not aware. Now that we know who is leaving or might be leaving we will get a good picture within the next few weeks of who will be added. |

Is Glock definately gone?
The number 25 is too large for a number of them not to be of the caliber of the "official vinyl logo supplier of the Milwaukee mile." |

Some sites say he has gone and signed elsewhere while others say an announcement with be coming soon. The fact remains he personnally has not announced anything but the probabilities are high he will be leaving because he wants a better car (or better team).
