Taprobane should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Alex Morgan crashed very heavily today at Silverstone, the car was destroyed. Anyone any idea how he is?

I have spoken to the team and Alex is fine, if a bit brused. He went off at the end of the main straight before the complex on the 2nd lap of the session.

I think the tyres had not warmed up as the car swopped ends and the he concrete wall.

He will miss this weeks Snet test but will be out at Brands.

The car tub & engine are Ok so it will just be a major re-build for the team.

Thats a bit of a strange place to go off, though it was never gonna be easy to get heat into the tyres this time of year. Sounds just like a run of the mill shunt really, bodywork & wishbones, more painfull on the wallet than anything else

From the pictures in the motoring news, it is hard to see how the engine & tub cannot be damaged, it must of pulled the moutings out of the tub, unless the castings that hold the engine in broke. Definately looks very expensive

Looking at the picture in MN Ian, I think even we would be hard pressed to piece that lot back together

I have to say I agree with you. All I have passed on is feedback from the team. Time will tell if it really could be put back together, or they need to order a new tub.

Actually there is a tendancy to consider Carbon Technology as a dark art and so write off everything too easily. X Ray and Ultrasonics are regularily used in Carbon Technology in other industries for ascertaining the condition of structures, and those NDT checks are at least as good and mavbe better than those available for checking space frame chassis.
