Wheel/Tyre coverage rules

Anybody know what the rules are regarding how covered the wheel and tyre should be by the wheel arch on a closed wheel car?

I think the back of my kit car might be a bit close to the mark. Not that I have an engine for it yet.

From memory, must fully cover the tyre (including the sidewall) when viewed from above. But individual championship regs may superceed this (Legends spring to mind). I remember a Mini Miglia (?) being pulled on this at Lydden a few years - it was fine in it's championship but not for an open race.

Might be top half of the tyre - okay to show some lower sidewall...?

If I remember the old Super Road Saloons regs, which were allegedly as per MOT regs, you should not be able to see the tread of the tyre when viewed from directly above, for 60% of the visible circumference.

Looking at some cars, including some the we have both raced against, those rules don't seem to be enforced much.

It's a blue book reg E.12.2.7. From memory the bodywork must cover the WHOLE wheel and tyre (including the sidewall bulge) to a level something like 100mm above the axle line.
