F1C is probably the best current F1 game around.
Haven't tried out the '76 mod, but I've heard it's from the same guys that did the Turbomod, and they're quite good at it.

Nobody has mentioned the new Alternative GPL Track Database. You'll find that it is up to date as well. You can get it from here: http://gpltd.bcsims.com/

How do you make drivers better at individual tracks. Its annoying because I made everyone a little better and have great races at all the standard tracks but at all the downloaded ones, in particular the British ones, they just throw it off the road or drive around 20 seconds off the pace.

Okay, I've got the update to ver 1.2.0.1, but I have a slightly annoying problem.

Sometimes I can go thru a whole season okay but other times, I can get part way into a race and GPL will stop and an error message appears saying "GPL has encountered a problem and needs to close".

Anyone got any ideas what's causing this to happen and any cures?

What does the error code say when you click the box that says, 'more info' or similar?

Probably a graphics driver problem as I was having the same issue and downloaded the latest nvidia driver update which solved it.

There probably isn't a fixed date

There very, very rarely is for GPL addons. The guys just work at their own pace, and it's ready when it's ready.

I think it'll be after the next installment of the '69 mod, which is planned for the next month or two.

I would reset whatever adjustments you have made, and instead alter each track individually.

In each track folder (usually C:\Sierra\gpl\tracks\<trackname>) there is a configuration file called 'track' (track.ini). Open it in notepad and find the line 'dlong_speed_adj_coeff' e.g. dlong_speed_adj_coeff = 1.112500

Higher numbers makes them faster. Change only in very small increments. i.e. go in steps of 0.005 or there abouts. If they're way off the pace you might increase it by as much as 0.05, and then adjust from there...

Alternatively, in GEM+2 you can change the AI speed, but confusingly smaller numbers is faster. In this case 0.98 is faster than 1.00 is faster than 1.02.
