zero posts but sending private messages
i've just receieved a private message from a user with Zero posts, clearly it was advertiseing, and unwanted at that, maybe users should only be able to send private messages other than to the mods after say 100 posts?

There are obviously many `lurkers' who are content to do only that but may wish to contact a poster with a question. This would not be possible with a 100 post minimum and quite possibly there would be no communication at all even with a 10 post minimum. Some people are just `newsreaders'. The `offending' PM'er you mention should no doubt be dealt with by banishment. I have in the past received advertising addressed to my 10-10ths e-mail address but that was a result of a `spider' program rather than an individual ad. |

You raise a good point regarding respectable lurkers, bear.
Perhaps, then, rather than setting an x-post minimum before PMs are allowed to be sent, an option could be made whereby you can choose to block PMs from members with less than x-posts? |

If anyone gets any PMs that they feel are simply sales pitches then please forward them to a moderator or myself and they will be dealt with appropriately.
