Aren't they both races which require 18 cars?

Politics aside for once maybe it's because he wants to have his last race at Road America as it's the best road course on the schedule? And there should be two Rocketsports cars soon...so there should be 18 automatically.

Obviously you don't know about San Jose's imporvements then for this year? Also the unveiling of the Panoz, Vasser is a key player on the Champ Car side...I'm sure he'd like to be involved in that weekend..overall the improvements for the event this year will make the event a must. It was only the fact last year that it was overshadowed by the fact that it wasn't organized well etc, didn't stop the fans turning up...

Oh I know about the improvements - or perhaps "fixes" is a better word - but they are in no way a guarantee San Jose will suddenly be transformed into the next Surfers Paradise. It should be better, yeah, but how can it not be? Anything will be better than the rubbish we had to endure last year.
As for being involved during that weekend, Vasser should be involved in every weekend anyway since he is, as you might know, a co-owner of PKV. |

It makes sense that Vasser would race in San Jose because he's a semi-local boy.
RA I don't get, perhaps he just wants to race there? |

Wanting to race at one of the few top-class circuits ChampCar still has is hardly a difficult thing to understand. Even then, the need for 18 cars may prove to be a factor. He probably chose San Jose due to its location; I'm not sure the race's promotor has the chutzpah to insist on 18 cars.
