I still don't understand what they are trying to do with that class? Have you got anymore info on this, supposed regulations etc? I heard it's going to be Impreza's, which seems logical when you go to Prodrive, but are other cars allowed? I guess it will not be compatible with any new European class, but will it at least mix with the Belgium Championship? Why do they want a new class anyway, finally the classstructure is perfect in Holland

They have introduced a new class because Division 2 is probably the most boring class ever to have existed in rallycross.

Holland and Belgium decided to keep the regs the same for 4 years.
So there will not be a new rallycross class in Holland or Belgium.

Wich is good because for the first time in years there faces points in the same directions, so hope they keep it this way!

From what i know these guys (not the Eurocircuit) wants to add the Prodrive Impreza as an extra racingclass in the Rallyracing and it will be open only for these Imprezas. If it's gonna be an official Dutch championship? or with races in Belgium?
It seems to me that the current structure for the official Dutch and Belgium championship stays the same.
Just a new racingclass.

They haven't introduced anything yet. Has there been any official announcement confirming this new rear-wheel drive class? Only that there was a proposition right?
And Division 2 the most boring, I don't think so. The most boring class was by far N4 in my opinion. Everybody drove a boring Ford Escort or a boring Mitsubishi Lancer and in the end it was Opland who won But presentday division 2 comes in third after another Group N class, that of the -1400 cars.

And now look what they seemingly want to revive Why would you want to buy an expensive Impreza for an Impreza cup, when you can buy yourself a moderately expensive but very exciting old RWD Volvo or BMW or FWD Opel Turbo or whatever for Division 3? I wonder what format they have thought of to make this new class in any way viable, because I clearly don't see it.

They fixed the regs for Division 3 and only for 3 years, of which this is the first. But well, it's still a good decision which should be made with more countries.

[QUOTE=DCS]The main problem today is the very limited classes you have in ERC. In the earlier days you run what you brung and that excited the spectators. Where could you see a RWD V8 Holden Commodore battling it out with FWD 2.0 Astra and a BMW M3 with 2.3 or 2.5 combined with the turbocharged Cosworths... And that was only the "lesser" class!

But nowadays it al is regulated to death making some of the classes boring or very equal to Rally classes. Most people like to watch strange and unusual cars, no matter how old or new they are.

DCS, you are right, a mixed class of old and new is the way to go, but I believe RWD is the way to go, and I think you all have a pessimistic view of the make and model you could enter in this class. what about the Datsun 1600? or 260Z, lotus cortina, any cosworth, escort or sierra, was it the mercedes 190 that was built to combat the BMW M3 of the '80s, they would both work well, mitsubisi starion, going into bigger engines, V12 jag, 3.5l rover, or triumph TR8,
and, yes, V8 commodore or falcon, or mustang, firebird, camaro or corvette? these cars don't have to be number matching, well engineered replicas will do fine, and the cost, please... I know one racer that uses an sr20 turbo motor in his datsun to rally, cost him around AUS$25000 to build, and bugger all to run. mind you he did do a lot of fabrication himself, and he hasn't bought a title, he is in it for the fun.

Yeah its good news - hopefully we'll see a British championship for this class too. If its based off div 1 regs there should be some scope for interesting stuff appearing. I suppose the only slight concern is that there are very few new RWD cars out there and its not always that easy or cheap to convert FWD to RWD. We could end up with a lot of BMWs out there...!
