List of 24 Hours of Le Mans drivers with IRL experience

Since we made a list of drivers in the 24 Hours of Daytona, I decided I'd make a list of drivers in in this year's 24 hours of le mans with IRL experience.

Shinji Nakano
Nicolas Minassian
Didier Andre
Tomas Enge
Johnny O'Connell
Max Papis
Nic Jonsson

Also with CART experience but no IRL experience are

Alex Yoong
Christian Fittipaldi
Stefan Johansson
Jan Lammers

and Brian Till with 3 IRL starts is the pit reporter.

Even half way around the world in a sports car race the IRL has a presence.

Brian Till also raced in Cart in 1992 , 1993 , 1994 and 1995

20 starts apparently with a best result of 9th in Cleveland in 93

I dont however have any record of him racing in the IRL ?

Nic Jonnson, remember he ran over someone's pit crew at one IRL race in 99 or 2000?

ya, Till doesn't have IRL experience, I got mixed up there.

I also forgot Jan Magnussen who drove in CART in '96 and '99.

Yeah, I think he spun coming into the pits, hitting the pit crew. IIRC it was at one of the flatter tracks - might've been Homestead.

He only made 3 starts: Las Vegas '99, and Orlando & Phoenix in 2000. He isn't listed as having crashed out of any of those races so he must've continued after hitting the guy.

Found it:

Quote:
FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 17, 1999) Twelve people were injured, ten of whom were hospitalized, at the final practice for the Mall.com 500 when rookie Niclas Jonsson lost control of his car on pit road. The list of those injured, included nine members of Tyce Carlson's pit crew. None of the injuries were reported to be life threatening, although three of the injured were airlifted from the scene.

Niclas Jonsson received injuries during the incident, and was one of those hospitalized. Carlson wasn't injured, but his father, Richard Carlson, who has a heart problem, was hospitalized as a precaution.

In addition to Jonsson and the elder Carlson, the other eight people who were hospitalized included Speedway Motorsports Inc. employee Brian Figg and seven members of Carlson's crew.
Full article available at motorsport.com.

So much for me remembering that it happened at a "flat" track...
