Very sad, but rather predictable. An NBA player trying to generate cash by association to a racing series which itself is struggling for attention. Doesn't sound particularly realistic really unless someone wanted a punt. Sounds like everyone went into it with their eyes open though and it just didn't work. Sad.

His demise has been in the cards for some time, but it is rather unfortunate, considering he and Buddy Lazier were the biggest success story of the IRL's first five years.

Sad, but not surprising. A driver with stupidly little experience & a partner bringing in no money. It was never going to work was it? The IRL needs desperatly to stop loosing teams. If Andretti Green was only running 2 cars like the other teams the we'd only have 15 cars in the series. A top series cannot survive on 15 cars, 2 of which would still be the Vision cars running only due to Tony George's money. IRL needs more teams, top drivers, sponsors & races or it might as well give up now.
