Michigan Race Thread (includes qualifying information)

No one bothered to start one of these, so i thought i'd get the ball rolling..

Penske on the front row isn't a surprise...the big surprise is Ed Carpenter starting in 4th!!!!!!!! Congrats to him!

and marty roth qualifies 17th ahead of 2 cars

Martymania running rampant at MIS.

Jeff Simmons didn't have a good run considering how much better he has looked lately. Neither did either of the Fernandez cars. Both of them have had a pretty lousy second half.

was watching it all on the live timing, great run by Carpenter who deserves alot of credit becuase he has really knuckled down this year and improved alot

the fernandez boys are having it tough at the moment, both have crashed out of recent races aswell as the bad qualifying runs

but lets not forget, kentucky is approaching and the Fernandez team has won there for the last two seasons so they might soon get a return to form

Well after the party was thrown for the 19 cars for Michigan, well not much to much celebrate in the end as the race is going to be washed out.
As the race will be run tomorrow morning according to latest reports, won't do attendance any good.

Amazingly...nobody hit the wall!!! Only Hornish & Patrick out (mechanical and petrol)...

Considering how close some of that racing was I think that's a remarkable acheivement.

Shame, I so wanted a yellow flag to bunch it all up in the end somewhere (just a wall rub, or a blown engine, leaves on track even)

If a yellow flag came out at the end, it definitely would've been a photo finish, especially if they would be racing the same style as the green flag on lap 54.

I've seen lots of drivers pitch a fit about their car going belly up just before the finish, and I've seen them just remain calm and reflect what might have been...I've never seen anything like that before...people just deal with it in different ways...

I had to laugh, but I also feel sorry for her because of the constant pressure she must endure every weekend, far worse than any of the male drivers...she's got a lot of moxy, IMO.

and she's still cute when she's mad!

That is how women react. Women are always a picture when mad. And you laugh about it and they get even madder and funnier.

I almost hope she breaks down right at the flag next time out, whilst winning. Just for the reaction.

Well that race was shaping up to be really exciting, but I completely got the pip when Dixon ran out of fuel. Aiiieee!

And I HAD been hoping that his slightly slow pace until that point was due to him saving fuel.

Big knock for Sam in the championship as well - especially with the road race still to come. Helio's looking pretty sweet right now. Meira second again!

a quick quote from Robin Miller about Danica...

• Finally, somebody has got to teach Danica Patrick how to throw a tantrum and her helmet. She needs to ask A.J. Foyt for some pointers.
