Silverstone Classic today - here are some of my pics

Hi there,
Had a great day out at the Silverstone Classic meeting today. Loads of great cars both on the track and in the paddock area. Superb demonstration by Prodrive of the Aston Martin DBR9, they were practising pit stops and the DBR9 was running on the national straight.

DBR9 - shortly after finishing a doughnut

DBR9 - driven by David Brabham

DBR9 - high speed pass

Silk Cut Jaguar XJR-12

Nissan NTP1 GTP

OSCA MT4 - driven by Stirling Moss

Aston Martin DBR1

Jaguar D Type

I took approx 370 pictures today so have lots to upload. These are some of my favourites.
Hope you enjoy them.
Regards
Tim

Hi Tim

Sadly I could only do the Friday so am missing the best two days. These are really clear shots which give a great impression of the 'presence' of these cars.

Thanks for sharing them.

Regards

Me too, was also there on the Saturday. So much to look at and do, really does need the whole weekend to explore everything! Fast becoming one of my favourite events of the calendar. Managed to meet David Brabham and David Richards to name a few. The only area i feel Silverstone could perhaps improve on is giving the circuit itself a slightly more historic look/feel. Maybe some straw bails and different sponsor hoardings? Roll on S'stone Classic 07, im sure it will be just as good!

Steve and I were manning the Marshals Club recruiting stand today so we missed all the racing, but we are grateful for these photos Tim. I particularly like the one of Pete Hardman, and the ones of the Silk Cut Jags and the one of the 007 car and ...

I guess you get my drift?

Isn't the DBR9 a horny looking car. Imagine 25 on a grid, it would give you a feeling that F1 will never be able to match.

Hi there,

I am currently shooting using an Olympus E500. It is my first Digital SLR, prior to this I shot using a Canon film SLR. The lenses are standard Olympus and most of the shots in this thread were taken using the 40-150mm lense. The E500 is a great camera and highly recommended by many of the leading photography magazines. I may be upgrading the lenses in the future, but I will spend the rest of this year with the 40-150mm lense.

Regards

Tim

Where at Silverstone were you shooting from to get that close with a 150mm lens?

I was shooting from Luffield with a Nikkor 80-200mm with a 1.4x teleconverter and it still didn't feel like enough. Or do you often get a photographer's pass to allow you to get closer?

If so - any tips on getting a photographer's pass?

Let me know too!
I had a Zuiko 50-200 with a 1.4 on, and the shots in my gallery are ALL cropped way down...

Here's Whizzo at Abbey...

There's one or two more in there, I'll add to it as I get time.

Hot Air Balloons at Silverstone Classic

Morning everyone,

My friend Claire in the USA said get rid of that poor Corel Photo House and I downloaded a much better programme called Photo Impact 4.2 which easily allows me to resize my fotos. She gave me a CD to install before I left the States.

So here goes:

Take care

Paula

Hi there,

I shot most of the pictures from the infield around the priory corner area. If you stand on the concrete area you can get some good shots without the fencing being in your picture. I have shot at Luffield before but found the fencing to intrusive. I have also taken many pictures around Club / Abbey area but many of the cars go through this part of the track very fast and it is quite difficult to pan there.
No photographers pass for me, never tried for one. Quite happy finding the shots from the public areas.

Hope this helps.

Regards

That's funny hon,

I got you mixed up with Motorsport Photographer Kerry Dunlop who was at Silverstone ( or his double was ) on Saturday....

Are you two related?
