Britcarfan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Can anyone tell me where at Silverstone this shot was taken?

Hi,

I am trying to work out where at Silverstone this shot was taken:

http://tsuphoto.com/motorsport/publi...3Q2062-01.html

Loads of people (including some who post of this forum) seem to be shooting from this position at various events. Please can someone help?

Cheers,

Ray

I would say, it was taken between Abbey and Bridge.

I think it is between abbey and bridge aswell, you would need to come through the main gate and turn right then left into the small carpark. You would get access where the marshalls hut is and walk down to your left until you are near the bridge then if you get a low shooting angle you would get that shot . If you look at the shots before hand in his gallery aswell they are all captures of cars coming through Abbey so he only has to walk 20-30 yards to get another angle and a different shot and there is a bunker there you can shoot from .

Forgot one important point,You would need a media pass aswell.

Yeah, that's a good place to shoot there, you can get a variety of different angles and stuff.

That's pretty much the best spot at Silverstone, as long as you can get a decent DOF.

Although it can also hurt the ol ear drums quite a bit... don't forget ear plugs.

That's what I think its about the only place cars crest a ridge at Silverstone and looking at the other stuff in the gallery the blue background is the F1 grandstands

Yeah, those are the Stowe grandstands in the background, I try to blur those out of focus in DOF as much as possible, so it blends into the usually duller than dull sky.

If you get lower it is possible to miss them altogether...... Try lying on your back with your lens pointing down towards your feet.....oh, and the earplugs are a must....

Hehe, don't know if lying down there is the best option from a readyness to leg it point of view.

I imagine it also makes the shot that bit harder to pull off as well since you see they come into your field of vision later and at higher speed. I'll probably give it a go though.

thats why his photo is a MF1 and yours was a McLaren.. the McL was already doing the same speed as the MF1 further down the hill
