GP2 drivers interested in Champ Car for '07

As many know ex F1 and current GP2 racer Bruni and Adam Carroll were at Road America and are considering racing in the 2007 CCWS.
You can also add ex F1 racer and current GP2 racer Pantano to the list. (quote on autosport.com)

for aspiring f1 drivers like those three, gp2 is the place to be. but they have all been there 2 seasons already and despite clearly showing big talent, the f1 door remains shut. for bruni and pantano, who have already been in f1 it might be even harder trying to get back in and for carroll, well he never manages to raise enough cash for one of the top teams anyway so he wont get much attention no mater how good a job he is doing.

obviously im biased towards adam, but i think he is the best one of the bunch. he beat pantano as his teammate last year, which was great because giorgio not only had been in f1, but had years of experience at gp2 level, whereas carroll had none. i think carroll in a good drive in CCWS would be a title winner. but all three would be quick out there, no doubt.

As mentioned in the other thread, Adam Carroll would be a perfect fit for Champ Car due to his ability to drive the car quickly even though it's always sideways.

He's definitely the kind of driver who would be rewarded in CC and at least the top teams are prepared to take a chance on promising drivers even if the sponsorship dollars aren't there, unlike F1.

Adam is one of those drivers that perhaps has the talent to be in Formula 1 but most likely won't make it.
No one would wish to do a fourth GP2 season, a third next year will be enough IMO you'd think.
It would be nice to see him in Champ Cars, lets hope it happens.

Carroll would be dynamite in Champcars I reckon. A real swashbuckling racer he is.

I just love watching Adam carroll , I really hope he finds something in Champcar for next year , heck I'd love to see him front up with Dayle Coyne's team for at least one of this years remaining races

Pantano I was impressed with in F1 , despite what others say he really did do very well against the Nick heidfeld (My view only , Nick is not worth sneezing on in my opinion)

Bruni wasnt that great in F1 and hasnt been that great in GP2 , has shown glimpses of speed but really hasnt shone like carroll has.

Adam all the way for me

It would be great to see any of them in CCWS. Drivers of a clearly F1 standard are always welcome. Adam especially would be an asset to any team IMO. If the succeed then CCWS may once again begin to be seen as a good alternative to F1.

Sadly don't see Carroll making F1, but he'd be great fun in CC.

Pantano is a good driver and on his day can be very fast, however he didnt seem to have the consistancy needed for F1, or the budget. If he can secure a good ride in Champcar for 2007 I can see him doing a good job.

Bruni I think is a underrated driver, he did a pretty good job in the early part of this years GP2 but for some reason the results for him and the team trailed off a little towards the end of the season, still he did a good job to beat guys like Carroll, Lappiere and Lopez in the points standings and I think could also be a asset to Champcar. As good as Pantano? Maybe, given the right equipment.

Adam Carroll is another very quick driver, quicker than the results suggest, IMO. He has also this year been very unlucky in GP2 and has had problems or been knocked off the circuit whilst in good postitions. Had this not happened he could have finished inside the top 6 points standings this year in GP2. If he gets a ride in Champcar I think he could do very well.

As mentioned in the other thread Carroll is testing for RuSport so we might see him in CC before '07.

will be tough against two guys who have been out in america for a while now but carroll had no trouble beating bremer in the f3 days and although briscoe is quick and more experienced, i think carroll could come out top. i hope so anyway. aslong as he is racing at all in 2007 im happy.

What was the team that Pantano was down to drive for but folded before the season started a couple years back?

Pantano was down to drive a Sunoco backed BC Motorsports car for 2003 - here's a thread about it all from early 2003!
