Beautifull day out here at the Brickyard ! The sound is better with the new 3.5 Honda and 100% Ethanol. (psssst) I had Wheldon at 228+ but they don't want anyone to know. Wind is picking up like yesterday.

Jeff Simmons crashed coming out of turn 2 this afternoon. Not a bad crash but he did kill a few corners on the car.

Simmons has been somewhat of a crash-king this year, hasn't he? Good to hear he walked away though.
As for Indy, were there any buzz in the air about driver/team-changes for next season? Might not have been a big enough test (not sure how many teams that were present, to be honest) for that though. |

Actually there was a little buzz about Kouske being signed with Panther and Fernandez being out of IndyCar Racing right now. Some of the Ganassi mechanics were saying that Scott Sharp had signed with them with Patron Tequila as a sponsor Supposedly Kouske took his sponsors to Panther which adds up to quite a bit of money. The Patron deal is supposedly $8 million a year with $2 million going to Sharp for his salary Verionica McCann from down under also tested an Atlantics car at Putnam Park the other day but is talking to Derrick Walker about running a Pro Series deal next year. Interesting, thanks for the info.
It would be a shame if Fernandez indeed is out, but at the same time not that surprising perhaps. |

Exactly. He has a high-profile sports car operation with a high-profile sponsor. Plus, he actually gets to drive the car. As long as his drivers and their sponsors have found a new home with established teams, his loss won't be all that tragic.

I believe it is but remember Patrick will have many associate sponsors who will pay her and that money won't be counted in the up front deal. |

Looks like Scott Sharp is talking to R/L about next season. Chip doesn't want to run 3 cars fulltime although he might run a third at Indy for some guy named Montoya |

Also they moved the start later of the indy 500 so it makes it near to impossible for NASCAR drivers to do both. If Montoya was to start the race he wouldn't be able to finish if he was to do Charlotte so what's the point?

maybe they'd just decide not to do Charlotte this year and put someone else in the car there for owners' points. It's not like JPM will be in the running for the chase.

I sincerely doubt that would happen. He is trying to forge a career in Nascar and going back to race he has already won isnt that appealing.

Since his victory at Indy, Montoya has gained more appreciation for his accomplishment there through the years and has often talked about it when F1 has come to Indy. Initially after his win, he wasn't nearly as psyched. I doubt that he treats it today as a "been there, done that."
