How much can you get an MX5 for these days? Or a BMW 318 - you can get them for under a grand.

Not much fun with a 318, go 6 cyl BMW, even if it is older it would be better. Dont discount a big engined 5 series, either.
Esky will be tough to find a good one, but about the best if you can. MX5 might be too slow, they handle too well for the crapola 125 hp! MAy be too dear as well. How about a Mitsubishi Starion, if you can find one it is a really nice driver (for 80's jap) comes with a turbo so you can turn up the wick a little. |

i'd expect you to pick up an E30 320 or 325 for that budget. The Production BMW championship runs 318 and 320 bmws and those guys seem to have great fun (and great close racing)

Porsche 924 S or an MX5 - try PH Sportscars of Shardlow, near Derby. J 24 off M1

if you are stuck with a budget of £1k you will struggle to get anything suitable, ie a decent rwd track car will eat up all or more of your £1k then you need to spend money on making it a useable track day car ie brakes, suspension and stopping bits falling off. I use a cheap Nissan 200 sx (1994) for track days but we had to spend a lot making it useable ie a standard one will would not be suitable.
better off with a decent sub £1k 205 gti or Golf then go rwd when more £££ available! |
