Yup.
I have said this before I know. But for those that don't. Scott did say when he is done with F1, Champ Car is what he'd love to race in. So your guess, is as good as mine. |

yes and i think he would be good in ChampCar,F1 is a business of money and the drive is going to go to the better funded driver and obviously that is Dornbos in this case,so Speed in ChampCar isn't that unrealistic.

I'm sure I read somewhere Speed has no interest in IndyCar or ChampCar and is entirely focused on F1

I am sure that applies to Scott as well.
He didn't work as hard as he did to get himself in shape and prove that having colitis (or Crohn's Disease - can't remember which) would not prevent him from putting in a full season of F1 to walk away after one year. Same goes for demonstrating he had the goods to retain his seat - he did. He may come to CC or IRL someday but not until he is well and truly finished with F1. |

If he gets pushed aside my opinion is that it is dorfboshes money that pushes speed aside not a performance problem. RB has been looking at flicking one or 2 drivers champcars way. I think it's solid that RB is going to have something going in champcar next year. Sending Speed to champcar is perfect. We get another american driver with RB sponsorship to boot. |

Doornbos is a better driver than Speed, as well as better backed, in many people's opinion

Doornbos is a better funded driver havn't seen much of him race so can't say he is a better driver but STR are going to go for the better funded driver and that is Doornbos.

It would be great to have Speed in Champcar, as for how good Doornbos is compared to Speed I really dont think there is much of a differnce.

Let's be honest...do we want Speed in Champcar just because we want more Americans? Or do we want him because we think he can perform well? IMO, i don't think he will be a top runner in champcar..

Doornbos did well at Minardi in 2005 and looked okay in a disinterested Red Bull team at the end of the last F1 season, and has a strong record in junior championships, especially considering he didn't start racing of any kind until his late teens. I'd say he's at least as good as Speed or Liuzzi.

Well that was the whole point to the Red Bull effort: to get an American in F1. My take is that they will keep an American in F1 and for now that American is Scott Speed.
CC will be an inexpensive way to keep some of their other drivers in a race seat until they are needed in F1. After all the trouble to get Scott to F1, Red Bull is not going to send him back to the minor leagues - not until there is a viable American alternative for F1 (read: a faster American than Scott). |

It may well be that Speed is shifted into a testing role and then returns to a race seat when Coulthard retires (which realistically is going to be within a season or two), with Speed and Liuzzi fighting it out to replace him and the one that doesn't secure the RBR seat driving for Toro Rosso. I could see that as a possible scenario, testing for one year then racing in F1 after.

could be just a switcheroo with Speed and Doornbos, but you could also add Doornbos to the list of driver's to replace DC so next season could be a season of looking who is best to replace DC.
