Coyote99 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
New Champ Car Logo

The new Champ Car logo is now present on the Web-Site. I like the design overall. Here is the link : http://www.champcarworldseries.com/FrontPage.asp

The new logo does race some questions however. There is no longer any mention of Ford and no sponsor replaced Bridgestone. If this a downfall or just the beginning of something better to come?

I think Ford still sponsor the engine but Bridgestone are no longer a title sponsor. Either way removing them from the logo is not a bad thing for for theoverall future as it makes it easier to swap over title sponsors. Not a major deal really as most rounds have a sponsor and many big motorsports do not have one.

Ah! Much better. Much more slick and cool. Wasn't a great fan of the previous oval shaped one. I see they've gone back to the slick and speedy feel as was the CART and FedEx logo.
Big imporvment IMHO and a needed one, what with the sort of another step in the right direction with current steps and revamps etc.

Shame the 2007 t-shirt has last years logo or is the 'long strip' version being kept?

No matter how cool it is, first I'd heard Ford was out of the title sponsorship role it had....had heard about Bridgestone.

Who cares if Champ Car doesn't have Bridgestone as their title sponser anymore? What other championships have title sponsers anyway? Open wheel series that is.

I like the new Logo, lot cleaner design, and you no longer have a series title that stretches across the page twice.

The drawback is that it probably means less sponsorship dollars from Ford and Bridgestone

Luke, Cup, for one, to the tune of about $80 million a year from Nextel into the series. Open wheel? Atlantic, for one. It is a revenue source for a series. You know.....cash?

Cash maybe, but they've always had them unlike other series over the last few years.
TBH I, like others couldn't care less about a title sponsor but much more about the design.
NASCAR is irrelevant as its not open wheel. So is Atlantic's as its just a small support series.

Money for a series is irrelevant?

Well, would you like the nice logo more or the money, if you owned it?

Question is, how much money are we talking about that Ford gave. Was it even money involved or just a thank you for now selling Cosworth to other people? Bridgestone we already know gave very little. So i'll agree with Luke that if so little money is involved then it is not so important. It does leave room for other companies however who would bring some cash to come into the series .

Bridgestone Presents the ChampCar World Series Powered By Ford never really rolled right off the tounge anyway. I like the new logo. It's cleaner, draws more attention to the series i think. Before all your attention was drawn to Bridgstone and to Ford.

You'll also notice its the NASCAR Nextel cup, emphasising the series, not the presenting sponsor.

Actually, it's the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup.

Whatever the deal was, and I agree that a lot of cash was unlikely to be involved, both title sponsors are gone. And if that "leaves room" for big sponsors, why not run all the cars with blank sidepods to "leave room?"

Nitpicking. Basically no difference at all.

No one knows what the figures were for being title sponsor, even if it matters which it doesn't there's nothing to say it happened to be a small sized sum....

Ford is in sorry shape, plants are closing yearly...tonight`s news had reports of more. Them leaving should be no surprise, and has nothing to do with Champ Car`s issues...which admittingly has a few, but Ford`s problems are their own.
Odd that this is the year that the series will be on the bigger networks, ESPN etc. More exposure for the sponsors. If it costs more for ad time though...who knows.

I don't think that Ford wanted out of Champcar completely. I think they probably dropped the "powered" by Ford" on their own, but the pace car program was dropped by Champcar, probably as a term of Stoddart coming aboard.

Time will tell on that if there are Ford safety vehicles, a Ford hospitality area, Ford TV ads, etc.
