KineticEnergy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Wing Mountings

I read an article recently about the building of modern incarnations of Jim Hall's Chaparral 2E.

That got the old grey matter working, recalling that the rear wings on these, originally, were mounted directly to the rear wheel hubs. I also recall that some F1 cars of that era (or maybe a year or 2 later) also adopted the same practice. This allowed a softer springing setup as "crush" from downforce did not need to be compensated for.

I gather with this approach, you also encounter a wing that altered slightly in its horizontal plane as one side of the car was raised in bump.

Now I recall this this mounting technique was only allowed for a short period of time.

What was the rationale for banning direct mounting of the rear wings to the hubs?

if the wing fails you suddenly lose a huge amount of grip and off you go. I think the movement of the wheels contributed to wing failures
