Excellent work - I've been looking for a rundown of results these last 2 days.
And what a lovely sight at the bottom. 48th and last, DNF Nicholas Minassien. I'm only sorry for Mr Dalmas and Mr Belloc for having to share the only car I want to stick pins in a model of. |

Sorry JC, I'll explain.
Some drivers will always be special favourites for me. Johnny Herbert, Henri Pescarolo, Barrie Williams to name but a few. Most drivers I will salute for doing a far better job than I could ever dream of doing in their situation. But when a driver displays deeply ungentlemanly behaviour on a race track, he tends to earn my undying disrespect. That's why I could never be a fan of Ayrton Senna, for example. Or Britain's Dave Coyne. Nicolas Minassien's crime was to find himself in his opinion "robbed" of a points placing in British Formula 3 by a non-points-eligible but very fast private entrant. His response, before all of the television cameras, was to seek out the privateer after the race was flagged, and when his car was immobile, he rained fist blows and rocks from the gravel trap at the poor man's helmet. For that reason, whenever I see a DNF next to the name Minassien, my sense of natural justice feels a warm little glow. |

Ahaaaaa....
....now I understand. I had a lot of respect for schus' and Sennas skill behind the wheel(and still do), but after their respective antics, I've lost respect for their character, which to me is far more important.
