The Police released the car last week to the owners with no failures identified that could have contributed to the accident. All damage was resultant from the car impact with the wall. End of speculation !.

Was the impact slowed down by a gravel trap or did they hit it full on

There was gravel trap (you can clearly see that in the Courier Mail photos), but how much and how effective is probably the subject of the circuits and Police investigation.

CAMS more than likely are unconcerned, as the track does not have a CAMS licence, but when it comes time to get a CAMS licence again to run "selected events", then I'd suggest CAMS will be very interested in the facts surrounding this accident.
