OK. Gibson needs to change his personality. At this point any change would be better but the most constructive thing I can say is whatever he has now, get rid of it and try something/anything else, as long as it is different.

I thought Crompton and White were good and I didn't really notice the other guy so he is doing fine.

A check of the event timetable would have shown what time the race started. And besides it was clearly advertised at the start of each days telecast that two support race would be shown prior to the touring car race.

I'd really like the Supercars coverage to also be digital. If you've got Foxtel already, you know you can pick the sounds you hear in certain rugby league games (formerly with some AFL games). Choose between commentry, ambiant sounds, or driver radio (maybe a different driver each round, Russell Ingall would be my choice to start). Channel 7 have the technology for those with digital set top boxes and I doubt it would alter the expense since you wouldn't need any additional vision switchers. Not that tough really, beats the 7 commentry team (Daniel Gibson, this means you)

me too, I actually found the whole thing a lil strange, though Matty White does sound like Diffey.
I thought Denyer would shine here but instead was very disapointed. here's his chance to copme across as a very smart and clued in operator, versus a gameshow host/weatherman. It's his first race and I'm sure the producer is egging him on to be a his usual tele persona but I'm here to watch the v8's not Sunrise.

Ok, so Constructive Suggestion Number 1 seems to be get rid of Gibson and bring back Beattie. Yes, they are the same constructive suggestion too!!

Beautiful.....progress.....for all those doubters!

dmcl should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I actually had a Sunday afternoon in front of the TV, instead of being at an event somewhere and managed to watch most of the telecast. For what its worth, I thought it was not too bad at all, and one of the best things for me was same weekend coverage of support events, surely this will be a positive for the promotion of cupcar and fford, and much more interesting than a human interest story on the kelly brothers (some may say thats a tall order anyhow lol) or a rehash of old footage of crashes done to some pop music. Cromley and White were good, was good to hear Aaron Noonan doing some comentary on the support events too, it doesnt seem too long ago I remember him doing the pa at hillclimbs at Ararat cos it was his car clubs events. Denyer was predictable, Gibson was trying to be humourous, hopefully we will become more insightful with the pit lane reporting as it evolves, but all in all, look on the bright side, it was live, matter of fact running about half a lap in front of the live updates on the v8 website.
Wonder when I'm home agian to watch another round.....

Yes they have the technology, but it is currently illegal in Australia for them to do what you have suggested.

I'm sure we'll see Daryl Beattie back for the Moto GP's on Channel 10. Here is Daryl's Wiki > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daryl_Beattie

Considering he spent more time calling races than preparing for them, dare I guess Bradley Jones?

I was more annoyed at some amateurish production mistakes than the commentators/presenters but I feel all the little glitches will be fixed before Barbagallo. Now if only we could do something about Denyer's mission of "spreading the love".

My tip is:
After ratings drop towards the end of the year because of too much air time per round, there will be a more condensed version next year or sooner.

Thanks for the heads up, flying finn. Good to know.

I tend not to worry to much about ticker displays (probably because my eyesight isn't that great) but I must admit, there was a gulf between Saturday's ordinary coverage vs Sunday's commedable effort.

There will always be room for improvement I'm sure... Recall when Ch9 got the AFL coverage, after giving Ch7 a public ribbing, I thought about people in glass houses... the coverage was atrocious and took time to improve.

I guess we can all be thankful they didn't have any driver-commentator chats like they used to...?
