Exhaust springs?
My Ford Sierra Cosworth has a nice fat exhaust but the front pipe slips into the back pipe and they are held together with springs on little hooks. Both my springs are missing and there is some light wire in place at the moment.
Does anybody know if these springs are something I can get from an exhaust supplier (I don't know the manufacturer of my exhaust) or should I just source some springs that are roughly the right length and use them? Thanks all. Here's a picture I knocked up of the spring position (there's one on each side of the pipe): Charlie |

Lots of people will try and tell you they are very special and at a very special price! If you call in at your local agricultural dealer [ie someone who sells tractors and stuff like that],those people usually carry boxes of assorted springs and they are cheap.Find the ones with the thickest material and youl be ok

A local hardware store might have some too!
Just be sure to check them from time to time to make sure they retain their tension (they should, unless they get very hot). |

OK. Great. I have plenty of springs so I'll just go with the rough and ready approach, and take some spares to the track.
Thanks, Charlie |

I have used this method of fitting for years including exhaust manifold headers. Use brake shoe springs, but also put a loop of wire to back up anything that could cause you to be black flagged !

we used to use springs a lot on 2 stroke exhausts, you can get them in motorbike shops for 50p a pop.
