One more time he was totally dominating the race, only to be put out by mechanical failure. This time it was a broken shaft. Before, a gearbox failure, an punctured tire, a disconected turbo booster, a brake failure. If none of these problems had happened, Montoya would have already taken the championship.
Is it possible that, if nothing unpredictable happens with his car, Montoya is bound to win every race? Judging by his dominating performance up to now, there is no real competition for him in the series. What do you think? |

It's almost a certainty that Montoya's driveshaft failure was due in part to his full-on, wheel spinning driving style on a bumpy course famous for being hard on cars.
The other mechanical mishaps you mentioned may or may not also be attributed to a driving style that is hard on equipment. It does no good to dominate a race only to retire when your car breaks. JPM must learn to drive not only within his limitations but within the limits of his car as well. It is not simply "gremlins" which are causing his problems. His biggest competitor on any given day may be himself. |

Thanks Neil. My thoughts exactly
You can't win if you don't finish. There's a fine line between trashing a car and winning a race. If Juan can find that line he'll be (ONE) of the best drivers in Cart. |

Jon Beekhuis said on RPM tonigt that it wasnt the driveshaft what broke but some other thingie (I don't remember the name). Anyway he said it was something that rarely happened but the way he described it sounded like it was because of a faulty component. But...hey! that's racing.
About Montoya....it's pretty clear that he has dominated. They showed the statistic and from the 1000+ laps ran this year Montoya has led over 500 and the guy that follows him (I don't remember who) has only about 130 laps led....plus 4 poles in 7 races..... |
