Hi, do you mean the outfit that ran Group A GTV6's and 75's in the 80's?

Out of interest what's the particular reason to contact someone involved?

Ok, may I suggest that you contact your local Alfa Romeo Owners Club?

Reason being that such organisations nearly always have some historian or marque expert that may know of a telephone number or address of someone connected to a race engineering outfit, whether that outfit is still operating or not.

In Britain the AROC has several key members who raced Alfettas who may well have had contact with Luigi or even outfits like Jolly Club and Imberti at the time and may know of a contact for you.

I don't have the web adress off hand but you should be able to find details on the web.

Hope this is of some help.

Excellent! I once had a GTV6 myself but she had to go, poor old girl!!

One guy whom I know had some contact with Luigi in the 80's was Jon Dooley (long time Alfa competitor in UK and does some Historic racing nowadays) but unfortunately I no longer have any contact details for him. He might be able to help if you are able to contact the AROC and leave some details for him to get back to you on perhaps?

However, duby, i'm sure Ten-Tenths has some 'Alfisti' among us and will soon offer some further help in time.

You're welcome!

Luigi (Cimarosti) is of Italian origins but, like many others, went abroad to look for better opportunities, and he did, with some success too

Probably the best person to contact in AROCGB would be the current chairman of the club - Ed McDonough (e-m, address deleted - JT) who took over from Jon Dooley at the beginning of this year. He has written one or two books himself.

(I don't think Ed would appreciate his personal email address placed on a public forum. so I have removed it - these details can be exchanged by PM, if necessary - JT)

European Luigi Racing is indeed the team in its most recent incarnation. They ran Honda Accords three or four years ago in Spa 24 Hours and other Super Production events.

Don't forget they ran BMW CSLs in the ETC in the 1970s with drivers like Gunnar Nilsson. Very cool!!

Luigi himself doesn't do much more in racing. I think he runs one dealership and his brother-in-law Xhenceval the other.
They got fed up with racing because of some very nasty politics. Shame really, as they were very good. Luigi, a little man, was quite a character.

Here you will find some pictures of the Alfas.

To be very honest I just stumbled on that one by accident. But I did bring back many memories.
Hell, am I that old?
