RLM said that because Chilton "was a good fellow" he would be allowed to do his qualifying laps during Wednesday and Thursday practice. They said the ACO have considered that he has experience of prototypes and had another motorsport commitment.

I have spoken to Tom at Croft today and he is gutted that he can't race at Le Mans (well that is what he said at 11am this morning, things may have changed since then)

Ben Edwards mentioned something during the race today - can't quite remember exactly what it was he said - either Tom was disappointed not to be racing at LM or just testing. I hope he is allowed to race. He's a nice guy - I met him at Thruxton last year...well, during a VXR autograph session. Doesn't he still hold the lap record around Laguna Seca?

BTW on the subject of the Lambo, Atsushi Yogo drives for the team in Super GT - he's Hinoi's team mate. So maybe there's been a late change, although it was only yesterday Planet Le Mans said the line-up is unchanged from last year

I also spoke to Darren Turner (a race winner today BTW) he said that to race at Le Mans you have to do the 10 laps before race week. From what Tom said that he will be at this years Le Mans cheering the team on.

Yes, you do. The story on RLM was that he had been given dispensation because of his experience.

I presume that Tom knows best, but maybe that was before they managed to convince the ACO.

EDIT: DSC are saying that he hasn't received dispensation and that was written after 18:00, so I guess that is a no.

Ah well. Maybe next year...

As for a replacement, John Nielsen doesn't have a drive this year, does he? He drove a Zytek last year. Is he a possibility?

Forget Guy Smith it said on DSC a week or so back that he was heading off on holiday.

Now that would be VERY quick. Smith/Johannson/Shimoda would be a seriously good combo.

As much as i would like to see Chilton in the Zytek ..... rules are rules and the team knew all about that issue before signing Chilton ..... no point trying to be smart with the ACO !!!

What about JJ Lehto as a replacement ?

I see that the Hawaiian tropic girls will be wearing the Charouz Lola this year .
