Podd37 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Mondello Park Long Distance Races

Anyone out there with saloon/rally/sports cars interested in doing a Long Distance race on 22nd July at Mondello? Length of race or races to be decided depending on what drivers feel their cars are capable of and size of grid. Driver changes and refuelling allowed. Could be fun....!!

Sorry for the delay, away on hols at the moment! No real regs, anything welcome and the actual race length it seem will be dictated by what the drivers want, within reason! Re fuelling will be allowed, but thats as much info as there is at present. Entries are down as €500 on the mondello site but split 2 ways and over an hour or more it could be worth it. Declan Grogan was talking to me about it and he seems to be keen to get it off the ground so is very amenable towards whatever drivers would like. What have you got? I'm going to run in something, not sure what yet but I'll use the 128 if I have to!!

Entry fee seems a bit steep...

I race in the Punto Abarth championship.... we currently get 2x20min races and 1x20 minute quallifying for E375. E500 for the same amount of driving doesn't add up to me... Would be interested in competing and know a few guys who don't race (yet) who would but at those inflated prices its gonna be hard to draw them in.

Great idea, but looks like it will be ruined by overly ambitious entry fee!

Lot of guys who do the track days will have cars that can enter but are they really gonna fork out E500 for 1hr on track when they can do a full track day for just over half that!!!!

PS - Hi Piers!!

2x 20min races?! I have to say you guys are lucky. Last Mondello I think historics, uno/punto's and vees only got 2 x 15min races for €375, so €500 seems good value. I do agree with you on this as a 20 min qual and forty min race with the crowd I run with in the UK is the equivelant of €386. However if it can run well with a decent grid perhaps the next round can be reduced by competitor power! It seems to have worked for the Libre guys as they get 2 races for €320 or there-abouts. As for the track day thing, its never going to be beaten on cost but surely you cant really put a price on 1st lap, 1st corner, in the middle of a group. Well you probably can put a price on it....how much is a wing? It'll always be cheaper than racing, but surely not as much fun. I am no fan of the entry fees at Mondello but for 2 people sharing a car , this seems almost reasonable.
Piers, check out the Mondello site for more info. And give it a go. No matter what you have it's bound to beat my 34 year old Fiat!!
