jessspeed should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
downloading to archos

Does anyone know what I have to do to download images from my 10d to an Archos AV500.When I connect the camera to the Archos nothing happens.Is there a program I have to install first?

I don't think you can connect the camera directly to it. The Archos' USB Host only works for Mass Storage Devices - i.e. devices that normally appear as an extra drive letter on your PC. Not sure specifically about the 10d, but I don't think Canon works like that .

You'll probably need to get a CF card reader, and connect that to the Archos.

The manual confirms what I said earlier

The AV 500 is equipped with a USB host port. This port, along with the USB Host adapter cable will allow you to connect USB Mass Storage Class (MSC) devices to your AV 500 and transfer files from that device to your AV 500.

If you do not have an MSC type camera, you can use a USB card reader and plug this into AV 500’s USB host port (via the USB host adapter cable).
Canon DSLRs don't support MSC, although their cheaper compact digicams do.
