Purchase Price of the car = $89,000.00 +GST
Teams Agreement = $30,000.00 +GST (One of payment)
Annual Entry Fee = $45,000.00 +GST

As quoted "estimate Annual running costs";Tyres, Fuel, Staff, Transportation, Accomodation, Airfares, Transfers/Car Hire, Depreciation. = $130,000.00 to $150,000.00
--------------------

So if I do my sums right all that jive comes out to over $300,000. To race a Mini. Uh, No. I reckon not. A $45,000 entry fee? Certainly I'd want people to make a profit but that sounds a bit rich. I'd like to see a cost break down on what that buys me.

I read an article in Autosport sometime ago people running similar Mini's in a championship in the UK. The costs were a fraction of this and that is in the expensive UK.

I'll be curious to see who throws down for this championship.

It does not have to be. In reality all this type of series attracts is generally non-racers with a few bucks that see a giggle in being a "racing" driver.
The sad part is that it is part of Cams policy to get in bed with the "money' and sell all the goodwill and rights created by it's members to the highest bidder.
Walk in with enough cash on the table and you get what you want-- in this case another rubbish series.

TKR have taken on Shane Van Gisbergen purely on the basis of the latter, and the endorsement of SBR of course.

And Shane will conquer all, just give him time.

It makes the NZV8 Series look cheap, and if Martin would respond, maybe the NZ Mini Series is cheap too

It wasn't that long ago when I spoke to one of the leading competitors in utes and he said it cost him $8-$10K a round. But I could believe people spending much more.

Yes it would be interesting to compare the NZ series. I don't have 300K, but if I did I wouldn't be racing a mini.

I'm going to sit back and watch just who is going to sign up for this.

I'll keep my helmet on to avoid any wayward 'chicken wing' to the head.

You probably only need to take extreme care at one race track up in the Territory
