Blair Racing signs engine deal with McLaren

Larry Blair has signed a technology partnership with McLaren Engine Technology to build their Chevy IRL powerplants for Alex Barron's Dallara next year. McLaren Engine Technology last won the Indy 500 with a 4 cylinder turbo motor in 1967 with Johnny Rutherford.

Will they be like that F1 team in 1992, their engines never made it to Canada, and in France people are convinced the mechanics made engine noises as they pushed the car out onto pit-lane, incidently the car came to a halt 50 yards further down pit-lane

AJ Foyt won the 1967 race with a Ford engine. The turbocharged offenhauser did not win the Indy 500 for the first time until 1968 in Bobby Unser's Rislone Eagle.

Rutherford won the 1974 and 1976 races with a McLaren offenhauser.

I stand corrected, it was indeed 1976 and not 1967. My apologies.

BTW, the McLaren group is also the constructor of the Cadillac Northstar twin turbo LeMans engine.
