Wurz's seat basically depends on how much his experience is valued in terms of race setup. Let's face it, Wurz's race seat has coincided with a infinitely better season for Williams. How good is Rosberg with set ups? Maybe it is Alex who is doing the setups with Nico reeking the rewards. When Alex was hired as a driver i think it was mainly because of his set up work rather than his speed. Only SFW knows how valuable Alex's role has been and basically it will come down to that for the race drive, he won't keep it on speed though.

I think it's probably more down to the fact that Rosberg himself has become more familiar with f1, and is getting his head around his approach to driving as a whole. I've read numerous times of the high regard both PH and SFW have of Rosberg, as being very technically bright, and i think this is showing with his increasing familiarity with the machinery. As you mentioned, wurz was there last year in a test role, and the williams major strides this season (as compared to last) has been in terms of consistency and reliability, rather than outright pace (although it still wasnt that flash earlier this season). I dont think this can be attributed to wurz. SFW has a long record of being pretty straightforward in his judgement of drivers, and it generally does come down to pace and consistency. i dont see wurz as having lived up to the standard that SFW had hoped for.... You know, I got to the end of my post and just couldn't think of anyone. I know a few who I'd like to see in the seat, but logically I do not know. Ralf Schumacher? |

There was some rumours about Piquet driving for Williams, but they may have been foundation. However, one could argue that Fisichella looks likely to lose his Renault drive, so maybe it will be Kovalainen and Piquet there next year, although people like to point out Briatore never places 2 of his (´his´as in in his role of driver manager) in the same team, but this may be of no particular significance.

Sutil more likely to go to Toyota or stay where he is though is he not?
Even ITV's commentator was talking about Ant getting a Williams drive. I wouldn't normally take what he says as 'word' but I mentioned in another thread recently that Frank's always been a big fan ever since AD started doing Friday runs for BAR. Perhaps Glock will slot in there if he doesn't get a one year deal with Toyota? But two Germans drivers in the same team? I can't think who else is out there that ought to get the drive if Wurz is dropped. Unless of course both Nico (bought out of contract?) and Wurz are on the move then it'll open up a bit more? More likely we'll get to see Nakajima in there then if Toyota really went him in F1 soon. |

A German and an Austrian isn't much different from two Germans, from a marketing angle. Has Flavio ever said he won't put 2 of his drivers together, or is it just an assumption from Webber fans to explain why Mark hasn't raced for him in F1?

Yeah you've got a point there actually. Dunno why I didn't think of that when I posted!!
Re your Webber point I suppose we should be asking why can't he replace Fizzi at Renault? |
