[STCC] Race 10 - Sturup (SWE), 16 September 2007
Richard Göransson was almost a second faster than anyone else at a wet Sturup Raceway in the south of Sweden. But his championship rival and leader Fredrik Ekblom was second with Robert Dahlgren third. "The car felt very nice and it really suits this track. I think we will have dry weather for the qualifying, but thats no problem for us", said Göransson.
Peugeot-driver Johan Stureson was fourth quickest and pleased with the speed in his 407. "I think we are getting there, the car was good here earlier this year when I finished third," said Stureson. New bio-ethanol BMW's of Janne "Flash" Nilsson and Robin Rudholm followed each other in seventh and eight position. "I had some problems when I was using half throttle, but BMW Motorsport are working on it now and I have full confidence for the qualifying and race," said "Flash" The qualifying starts at 12.30 CET. Test results top ten: 01 Richard Göransson 1:08.130 02 Fredrik Ekblom 1:08.844 03 Robert Dahlgren 1:08.885 04 Johan Stureson 1:09.341 05 David Björk 1:09.387 06 Tommy Rustad 1:09.469 07 Jan Nilsson 1:09.582 08 Robin Rudholm 1:09.651 09 Frank Stippler 1:09.843 10 Alexander Storckenfeldt 1:09.847 |

Sad it wont go down to the wire now. Wonder if this will effect the ticket sales for Mantorp. I was thinking of going, but now I most likely wont.
Well deserved win for Ekblom, he's been running a clever season scoring good points. Altho I have to say I'd rather see Göransson as champion, he's impressed me more this season and has most of the times been faster. Dahlgren deserves to be champion too, hope he can hit back next season! So will Stippler stay? I hope he will, had a bad season, he can do much better. I suppose he's not too happy with the team tho, cant blame him... |

A big congrats to Ekblom for taking the title. He has deserved it, consistent, no mistakes and quite quick.
It is sad that the fight is over before the final race, but rather that than double points... The fight for the team title is still on between WestCoast Racing and Flash Engineering. |

I must say it was correct that Göransson got a penalty.
But I think Ekblom also should have got one. It's not allowed to pass in the pits, is it? |

Though he didn't have much other options, the couldn't have got Kristoffersson back otherwise...
Anyways, the stewards decided not to penalise him. |

I'm not sure, but I dont even think there is a rule that says you are not allowed to overtake in the pitlane...
Either way, in special situations as this Ekblom did nothing wrong. |

I would imagine if a rule exists it would relate to overtaking a moving car.. As Kristoffersson was stationary, it would not apply..
